Aaron Spiro - Sing
As if being co-produced by Charlie Peacock isn't enough, Aaron Spiro backs up that accolade by also delivering an evenly balanced collection of tunes on his debut, Sing.
This album was out for a little while before I found it. Don't know how much critical praise it got when it first came out, but I thought a little more couldn't hurt.
Sing is good. It finds a deep searching in songs such as "Pray Like Breathing" (I think the title speaks for itself) and my favorite tune, "Begins and Ends in You." The title track cranks up the juice and brings you out with hands raised, singing at the top of your lungs "like there's nothing else you can do." And to round it out, Spiro gives us "Forever and Ever" and "Let The Hallelujahs Cover You" to remind us that, above all else, we are created to worship. "Forever and ever we will sing Your praises, forever and ever we will glorify your name."
It's not often that such a great artist slips by me. This is one of those cases. And if you're like me, feeling foolish that you too have missed Aaron Spiro's sweet sound, you're gonna wanna go fix that.
