Orbit

Jill Parr - Orbit

In short: Upbeat, enjoyable stuff.

I really don't understand by Jill Parr's popularity is not bigger. Given, she's on a smaller label... maybe the distribution and marketing just aren't there. But man, oh MAN is the talent there.

This CD has quickly become one of my favorites. Not just because it's good, but because it's infectiously good. Because Jill's voice is a wonder to marvel at. And, because her songs touch the core of what it means to be a Christian.

There are so many good songs on Orbit, it's very difficult to find one that I could call a favorite. From the pulse-pounding, anthem-shouting title track, to the tender pleading of "Feel the Scars," to the artful re-rendering of Sting's "If Ever I Lose My Faith," the complete thought that Jill Parr accomplishes through this masterful work is deeper than anything one song could render. You can almost see her, standing in the street, shouting, "I love you Lord!" And then turning to the buildings which surround that street and shouting, "And he loves all of you! Wake up! Don't you see it?"

You're gonna have a little difficulty finding this album, I think... but due to the wonder that is online auctions and free enterprise, you can find one if you look for a few minutes. Take my advice... getting your hands on this one will be an investment you will most certainly not regret.
